CRUDE AWAKENINGS:14. Obama financing oil exploration off Brazil

When I’m writing three blogs in one day, I have a lot on my mind.

I couldn’t help but be unnerved by Mr. Obama’s visit to the oil slick off the Gulf Coast.  He was briefed 50 minutes before arriving in Louisiana.  This shows how really important this Catastrophe is to him.  I quote: “BP (British Petroleum) is responsible for this leak.  BP will be paying the bill.”

Here’s why he wants them to shoulder the ENTIRE cost.  The US is getting ready to lend billions of dollars to Brazil’s state-owned oil company, Petrobras. This will finance exploration of the huge discovery in Brazil’s Tupi oil field in the Santos Basin near Rio de Janeiro. But let’s look on the bright side. If Mr. Obama has embraced offshore drilling in Brazil, why not the old U.S.A.?  The land of the sorta free and the home of the heavily endebted.  Yes, before the spill we were going to do more offshore drilling, but now he has second thoughts, more restrictions.  But we’re going to POUR money into Brazil’s drilling program when we have enormous offshore oil deposits to take a risk on.  Remember folks, offshore drilling now will be like going to the moon – higher risks in unchartered territory because we have to.
